##Keep an open mind, John Es.##

Always do, its a good thing.

##Read an up-to-date textbook like Fromhold. Buy the book, it's a cheap Dover paperback that is 20 years old, but I think that it is available.##

Up to date and yet 20 years old? When I want current, I'll walk down the hall to my collegues, the ones that write the books.

##Welcome to the world of real physics!##

I live the real world of physics. Superconducting magnets, relativistic heavy ion colliders, polarized protons, x-ray wiggler derived beams, 20 tesla MRI's, SOTA superconductors, liquid helium, 11 axis motion control magnet winding with 3 meter long tubes and 300 microinch wire placement accuracies, 7000 amp cryogenic diodes, 30,000 amp power supplies, 200 picosecond pulses (I'm not yet involved in the femptosecond stuff). And that's only work I'm directly responsible for. You should see the other stuff around here.

##This is where the action appears to be, not in the approximations that you use every day to make your computer work.##

You seem to have an erroneous view of what I do. I do not use approximations in any of my work, and we have lower level ITD people to make my computer work, or at least keep the hackers out (National labs seem to have a bullseye marking on their network). At home, I have my 9 year old son to do that.

##Maybe, you too, can contribute to this website with your newfound knowledge.##

So far, I've only corrected you on one of your errors, that of confusing fermi velocity with electron drift velocity. An easily made error, as the test you quoted had an ambiguous definition. And that knowledge is not newfound, but something I remembered from '74. Perhaps you missed that class. (Sorry, that was a cheap shot, but I felt I should at least have one comment consistant with the intent of your post.)

But boy, correct you once, and you opened up the attack floodgate.

I've no intention of sparring with you at any level, intellectual or technical. If you felt I had, I apologize.

Cheers, John
