in cost from $8 to over $150 and while I can easily tell an 'upgraded' outlet over most any contractor spec'd outlet for a new construction project I struggle with hearing any benefit personally, on my system, between hospital grade outlets regardless of any high-tech plating, cryogenic submersion or other, more exotic treatments cumulative or stand-alone treatments. I just "Pro-Gold' em & run em.But admittedly I do crack my circuit-breakers apart once a year or so and replace some contact pads, braided cables, polish, silver-solder and tweak the stew out of em with a bunch of slot car track stuff I found that still today is highly conductive, exotic and well worth grinding the rivets out of a circuit breaker/replacing with screws so you can get inside once or twice a year.
If you think an outlet makes a difference just wait til you try blueprinting a circuit breaker on a dedicated line!! Only problem is everytime you move there's a whole new learning curve as it seems every residence utilizes a different circuit breaker and box.
