The idea is entirely consistent with current dogma. For instance, soft annealed wire is preferred to hard-drawn wire presumably because the crystalline structure is under less stress. Same goes for continuous-cast wire. Ditto cryogenic treatments. We have been told that stressing the metal fractures the crystals and those inter-crystal boundaries impede current flow. It would appear that any binding posts or spades that have been subjected to wrench-tightening have been over-stressed and work-hardened and they should be replaced. And if you believe the dogma, what does that tell you about crimping?
