I would not recommend treating the entire cable, just the metals. This is a very sensitive process. It requires slowly taking the metals down to cryogenic temperatures and then slowly back up again. The temp profile is a function of the mass of the material, so I believe this must be carefully calculated. You certainly cannot do this yourself, just by immersing in LN02. I have tried it. It damages the cables permanently.
