As it was described to me second hand (adnittedly), the so-called "immersion method" attributed to Jenna Labs is not quite as bad as it seems at first blush - the immersion is apparently performed after the item being treated has been allowed to gradually cool in the vapor portion of the dewar (container) to a temperature approaching the temperature of the liquid N. This probably does not harm the material, but on the other hand it begs the question: if you can appraoch the temperatures of the liquid N in the vapor, why bother at all with immersion? a few more degress seems trivial - If the results of cryoing materials for audio purposes was a function of the temperature of the cryogenic treatment (which I don't think it is) another gas with even lower liquid temperature should be used.
