I've read virtually the entire thread down below about Cryogenic Treatment. It's getting pretty lond down there, so I've decided to start a new thread that focuses on the nature of it, and the how and why (not stuff like "WOW, I heard a big difference"). The one thing all those posts didn't address is what it specifically cryo treatment does to the metal, and why this might improve sonics. This reminds me of all the sex information books that came out in the early 70s...Rodney Dangerfield said they tell you everything you could possibly want to know about sex, except for one thing...where to get it.
I'm neither a sceptic or a believer of the sonic benefits at this time. I've got an Acme Cryo duplex sitting in my wall, but don't want to rip it out and in and out and in along with a non-cryo outlet so that I can A/B them.
What I'm looking for is not explainations like some wire manufacturer gave saying something like "cryo treatment improves the sound by making the midrange more defined and blah blah blah..." That's not telling me how or why, even if it's speculation.
I'd like to hear it's scientific effect on the metals, particularly in outlets, plugs, etc.. I'd be interested in possible or proven explainations of why it can improve sonics. I'm open to proven theory, hypothesis, speculation, etc., as long as it's described that way.
I'm already aware that many report subjective improvements, and I don't have any interest in doubting their hearing. What I ulitmately want to be able to do is explain what it does to the metal, and what that in effect does to improve sound. OK, lets' go...
