I originally wanted silver plated copper cables of significant AWG. Then, found shielding was necessary to help shield the ICs at the power cable source, & beknownst to me until I started cleaning the AC ... vice versa. Anyhow, I had a bunch of Audio-Magic:Spellcatser 2 & Sorcerer power cables, when I saw a used Illusion on sale. This was a shielded silver ribbon power cable in an air-dielectric. Surprisisngly, the sound opened up. It was then that I figured the signal was retarded by the speed of the juice. So, I had my pre & amp on these. Then, I saw a FatBoySE on sale. I heard it did wonders on my Krell. So, I bought it since the construction is very similar to mine only upgraded with cryogenic treatment & thinner ribbon & more gauge & vacuum dielectric instead of air. It worked. I bought a FatMan snubber to go from my conditioner to the wall, but it would void the warantee on my Tice since it would require removing the permanent cord. I got this from George's wife. I told her why I was doing what I'm doing & she freaked that I plugged my 500W Krell into the lowly 1800W Solo. Go figure. I then tried the FatMan on my Velodyne ........ WHOAH!!! ( Trust me I've got twin subs & one cord. The mismatch is obvious. And, I've checked room problems as I've swapped the cables. ) I then started swapping cables with others & nothing was it's equal on the FSR18. The 500W Krell didn't gain anything with a FatMan over the FatBoySE. As such, I think the FatBoySE will be enough for your 400W ULD-18-II (BTW, my Velodyne is a 1250W class-D amp).Well that's my story.
PS: When swapping cables the Illusion is still plenty on my sources. The electraGlides did nothing more & without the ability to mount an AudioPrism:WaveGuide, it did far less.
....just my 2¢
