If as you said, you've done "massive" reading here, you should have come across at least one post advising that it is against code to install a 20A receptacle on a 15A circuit. It all depends on whether your existing 15A branch circuits are wired with 12 gauge or 14 gauge wire. If they are 12 gauge, you will be able to use 20A receptacles. If its 14 gauge, which is rated for only up to 15 amps, you're out of luck.
