What you see is a 1/8" thick nylon strip. I have not heard any loss with the RCAs. I made sure to use high quality connectors and wire, no Radio Shack. I originally installed Vampire connectors and recently switched to new Furutech sockets. In my TT, the tonearm wire terminates in a small circuit board at the base of the arm. The original captive cable was connected to that board. I used center conductors cannibalized from an old set of ICs between that arm circuit board and the RCA sockets.
