No, I am not surprised.
I took a look at PBurke's system, it's a very sophisticated DIY system that tries to maximize to expense to quality ratio.
I believe he is proud of what he has accomplished within his budget and somehow felt offended when I challenged his choice of $10 RCA plugs.
A set of WBT plugs (at retail) will probably cost half of what his preamp cost him in kit form.
Taken into perspective, the whole imbroglio is about my values and his values.
I ride an old car and listen to music on an Audio Aero Capitole tubed CDP ,because I love MUSIC first and foremost.
I never regretted spending money on better connectors, because the plugs will instantly improve the music content of ALL my CDs and LPs. Since I love music, the expense is justified, according to MY VALUES.You are right about the Bullet plug's reliability issues, they tend to break when inserted into wider-than-spec RCA sockets. That's why the factory recommends heating them with a hair drier before connecting,
Thanks for your support and my best wishes
