Home Cable Asylum

Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

you've not actually made that case here.

JR: ""Folks who must measure acurately into the uV and mV use either gold-plated connectors, or silver plated BNC's, and make sure that they are not made from steel parts, including the crimp sleeve.""

Actually, that is incorrect..

We measure into the nV range, and just use standard, everyday, ordinary....everything, without regard to solder alloy, conductor material, plating material, or even, the temperature gradient along the conductors, which, in our case, is 300 O C. In fact, most of the cryogenic feedthroughs we can buy, use Kovar brazed to the ceramic metalization.

JR: ""Have you listened to audio over a BNC plug of any type? I have done this, and have a good feel for what occurs to the sound.""

Of course, that is an opinion..not verifiable through actual electrical testing of any kind, but rather, from your own listening tests..

Cheers, John
