Re: Gas tight connections, pressure and surface area

My understanding is that when you fasten 14-2 power wiring to a circuit breaker or an electrical outlet by cranking down hard on the screw terminal, you deform the copper wire and form a gas tight connection. Similarly when you use a Marrette to join 14G wires together.

Based on that, I assume that if I connect copper speaker wire to a Deltron BFA plug by cranking down the set screw and deforming the copper wire, I form a gas tight joint between the copper wire and the BFA plug. The connection of the BFA to the component or banana pug would of course be a different issue.
