Re: Cryogenic treatments

For me it worked well on all DIY cables that I have tried so far. The CD has also survived the treatment, and although it was a CD burned from mp3 (sic, but I could not find an original of Basil Puledoris' Conan the Barbarian's soundtrack), it is not your first idea when you listen to it. It sounds very dynamic, and the orchestra is very vivid, lifelike.

I have also tried LPs. I would recommend it depending on your system: on my Rega P3 / RB300 / AT440ML the cryo'd sounds MUCH better, much more dynamic, DETAILED, but on a VERY revealing system it is still more dynamic, more detailed, but perhapas too detailed, you hear the editor's work on the record, when did they switch on / off a tape track, and things like that. Quite stunning, but the overall sound is cold, and rigid compared to an untreated one.

I have heard that the transformers benefit the most from cryo-ing. Cryo the power cords, I have very good experience with that. I have not cryo'd tubes, but they say cryoing lowers their noise floor, more detail, but much colder sound, the life goes away.

Good luck,

Janos
