Particularly if you are currently using speaker wires that are of low-ish gauge, say anything thinner than 14 AWG.

Having bi-wires will increase the current carring capacity. For example, going from 1 to 2 x 14 AWG wires will effectively give you the double the current carrying capacity (equivalent to 11 AWG thick wire). This should open up the bass in theory...
