Re: Sugden A41?

I've never seen an A41 but I have an A28B and an A48B, both of which I like. As no one else was answering, and I collect info on Sugdens, I checked to see what I have and found a copy of a review of an AU-41P from Ultra High Fidelity. I'm not sure if this is the amp you are talking about. The AU-41P is in the same casing style as the A21A, the A28B and the A48B so it may be more recent. It was rated at 110 W per channel and was $C1495 list but I'm not sure of the year. Apparently from a price perspective, it was above the A21 in their line up and below the AU51. From the power rating and heat sink design it is clear that it must be a class A/B and I am guessing that it is not as heavily biased as the A21A or the A28B. The review mentions very tight bass control and a very smooth clean sound with great resolution but not warm (Admittedly, they had just been listening to a Counterpoint but they also mentioned that it was less warm than their YBA) It sounds as though it is quite different from the Sugdens I know which have been on the warm side.
My guess is it will be an excellent amp that matches up best with speakers and other components that are on the warm side.
If you send me a number, I will fax you a copy of the review.
Regards
David
