Re: Does voltage (110 v 220) affect sound?

The main advantage of feeding 220 V to your amp is that the current running thru the house wiring is half of a 110V connection.
This has the same effect as a dedicated high-current line. More authority, cleaner sound, better dynamics, tighter bass.
Of course it only is needed for high current amps. Dont bother if your amp draws less than 600W (5 amps).
I do not recommend a stepup trafo. Even if over-specified by a factor of ten (e.g. 3KVA for 300W consumption), they hurt bass and dynamics.
Most houses in the USA come with 2 or 3 phase AC input. A competent electrician can wire your stereo outlets for 220V.
I suggest that you buy special US 220V outlets and plugs (Home depot - for clothes dryer) to avoid accidents.
Good luck
Carlos
