Amp/Preamp Asylum Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here. |
|
I’m starting to get a little tired of the entry level receiver I have in my system (see below). Thus, I’m in the market for a solid state integrated, and thinking of getting something used.My objective is to get sound that is quick, detailed, and neutral without brightness. I want a great increase in soundstage in all directions.
Musical tastes vary from classical, to post-rock/electronica, to jazz, probably in a ratio of 50, 30, 20%. I have a smallish room, 12x10x8.
Based on my research so far, I’m really leaning towards a Bryston B-60. The 20 year warrantee puts me at ease (since it will be used). Anyhow, I liked the sound in a demo, and the fact that I could later use it as a power amp and experiment with tube pre-amps is interesting.
In the next year or so, I will probably upgrade the speakers to something like VMPS 626’s, or GR Criterions (I like the sound of ribbons).
Some of the others on my to-listen list are:
Classe CA-150
Plinius 2100 mk2
Vectuer I-4.2
YBA IntegreAny votes for which I’ll be most happy with, or suggestions for what I should listen to?
