My GamuT D-200 MK-II stays on 24 hours a day since I bought it, with no problems at all. It has a very musical, smooth, tube-like sound.
I have had excellent response time from GamuT when asking questions.
I have found only one amplifier that betters it: the Audio Aero Capitole 50W class A tube amplifier. It is more expensive, though.I would advise against buying a solid state preamp. Have you noticed that there are no classic solid state preamps in the used marketplace, however a tubed McIntosh, Marantz or old ARC is worth at least double its original price ?
I have an ARC SP3 that was $250 in 1975 (I believe). I bought it for $400 from Lyric Hi-Fi in NYC back in 1987, already 12 years old, in mint condition. I was told it is worth more than U$ 1.000 these days.
That's called "tube magic".
Take a look at my system: Carlos
Good luck
