Hmm , I read that they revised operating point later in the production to 55mA because the amps were apparently blowing the tubes and screen resitors which required costly trip to factory service. The reports seem to indicate that Kt120 is better sounding tube and since VS55 ,110 can take it, it would make sense to me to use uprated tubes when re-tube time comes. I can repair my amp so if I crank up bias and blow it it won't be a big deal but sending it to ARC usually cost several hundreds -something to be concerned with.
Usually one don't buy bigger amp to get more volume. That Maggies require power is not a common fallacy but it doesn't mean that one can't be happy driving it with SET amps. It's a very subjective ,personal hobby and what works and makes one fairly content is fine.
