Here's two more examples of *tests* that conclusively prove that speaker wires and interconnects sound the same.
Completely Missing the Boat
Read my response where I share the results of using measurements to debunk the first test methodology. I also relate a story of yet another bogus cable test. It's really a shame there are folks who are gullible enough to believe them. BTW, here are pics illustrating the interconnect fallacy.
First pic is some junk patch cord measuring 510 pF:
The second is some twenty year old Esoteric Audio cable measuring 74 pF.
The third pic adds the Y-adapter to the low cap cable for a total of 106 pF.
Now folks, what happens when you connect two cables via a Y-adapter as the test requires and measure the result at the end of either cable?
The final pic is where I added the patch cord to the other end of the Y-adapter - still measuring the Esoteric Audio cable now at 626 pF!
So kids, what did we just learn?
Did the test methodology allow a true comparison of a 74 uF cable to that of a 510 uF one? NOT! The *test* compares - NOTHING! It combines the electrical characteristics of both cables measured at the end of either! Not only does the test "compare* BOTH CABLES to BOTH CABLES, it dumbs down the overall metrics which can cause everything to sound dull.
Similar results to Frank Van Alstine's measurements of Krueger's ABX box which combines the feedback loop distortions of the two connected amps.
I am not one who is against valid testing. I'm just against fatally flawed parlor games masquerading as science.
Especially when they lack controls and render results inconsistent with observational data.
