RE: Audio Note M3 pre 2003 and after 2003

The pre 2003 was true dual channel with separate power transformers and dual choke, rectifier tube arrangement for each channel. After 2003 there is actually one power supply for both channels so the transformer has to be bigger and one M2 regulator board (Wasn't it named M2 because it was originally developed for cheaper level 2 , M2 preamp ?) I think the other power transformer is there just for optional phono board supply and it's not being used in line configuration. You get real dual PSU in M9 or m10 again. The pre 2003 M3 had 1W tantalum resistors and BG ,Elna Cerafine caps , non of that is now available up to M6. I don't think any transformers used by AN kits now are made by AN factory. They are all locally sourced by subcontracted manufacturers to AN specs. Peter always brags how he really tries to make his trans as cheaply as possible and about cost of high quality cores. If it's true, AN kits trans being much cheaper compared to real AN products must be quite a bit inferior compared to real deal. Anyway I was just curious about first hand experience with old/ newer M3
