Treefrog,You can do this but it will change the balance of your speaker. Say a speaker is 4 ohms. If you separate the bass from the mid and treble range and connect the bass to four ohms this will increase the power by 3 dB while the highs remain at the normal level. What speakers do you have?
On some of the B&Ws connecting the mid-high to 2 ohms and leaving the bass on the 4 ohms gives a nice increase in bass level.
