I want to purchase an older B&K amplifier. I was about to buy the 105 wpc version of the ST-140 with the gold rack handles, but then I read that it won't work with my 4 ohm AR-3a speakers. I am confused as to which of these amps would and wouldn't work. I've heard the later ST-140 with the red/blue lettering has no problem with 4 ohm loads. Then there is the original ST-202(black and gold) and the newer version. Is the case the same with the original ST-202 regarding it's inability to mate well with lower impedance speakers vs the one with the red/blue lettering? And finally, I am after the darkest, warmest, sweetest sounding of the family. Given this criteria and my current speakers, which would you recommend and why? Thank you!
