Folks,The volume trim on our pre amps allows any source to be trimmed by plus or minus 6 dB. This allows the various sources to have a similar playback level when switching between sources. This will not limit the maximum output of the pre amp in most cases.
The key to protecting speakers from clipping and overdrive is the power guard circuit in our amps. It will protect your speakers from determined abuse as demonstrated by various DJs running McIntosh amps.Thank you,
Ron-C
