I just received a new Loricraft a couple of nights ago. I noticed on a couple of records the wand would track OK, then sort of move over a greater distance then start to track again normally. When I got the machine the tracking force was not set. I set it at 2.5 grams using an electronic Tracking force scale for tonearms. I read on the archives that a few people say to set tracking force to '0'. The manual says 2.5 grams. Have you had similar issues? I tried increasing tracking force to 2.7 grams, but it didn't seem to help. I like the machine, but would like to resolve this. I'll call Smart Systems, but wanted to know from other Loricraft users if this can be easily corrected. Also, I put my finger on the wand- the vacuum doesn't seem very strong- is this normal, or should there be significant pull? Thank you!
If you use the arm to track the record backwards, as I do (i.e. with the arm starting tracking from the spindle out towards the back of the machine), when you pick up the arm, you should pull it over the spindle a bit before setting it on the record. This "settles" the tubing so that it doesn't have any twisting action on the arm. I use 0 grams downforce and it works just fine. Hope that helps.

loricraft uses #30 un-calendared nylon thread.
What does "un-calendared" mean in reference to thread?
TIA
Un-calendared nylon hasn’t been pressed between rollers to smooth and glaze it.
Just curious why you'd look for a substitute?
if it would do the same job. Otherwise I'll order more. I thought I had a second spool but can't find it. Norm
