You may also want to consider buying a garrard 401 - as good as the later oil-bearing 301's but usually a lot cheaper, not as good as the grease bearing 301 though. .......

Garrard 301 and 401 are both three speeds. The Garrrad 301 was originally manufactured with a grease bearing when the format was MONO, which made it slightly noisier than later 301's, which used oil b .......

Why would you want to ruin the things the Garrard 301 does well (total silence, dynamics and bass) with an SME V? The Ikeda IT-345 and 407 are perfect matches for the Garrard. So are a vintage Ortofon .......

Adrian, My Garrard 301's shaft is 1 3/4" long measuring from the eddy current disc and the pulley is below the end of the shaft and lines up with the idler wheel perfectly. Take a look at the linkage .......

It depends on the vintage of the 301. The taper fit between the spindle and platter changed over time, so a 401 platter will not fit an early 301 spindle (either grease or oil bearing). Unfortunately, .......

I wouldn't agree with you when you say that the connie would beat a garrard. It would probably beat the average garrard but I doubt if it will beat a well set up garrard 301 or 401 - these are reporte .......

Garrard 301: It will not click into 45 or 78 - with motor off. Have oiled and cleaned all links. With deck upsidedown, when I lift the catch lever (part 43) it will click in. Have loosened and fiddled .......
