Hi, The entire VPI line is wonderful, I have a recent TNT Jr for my self and a much older TNT for my wife. They are pretty hard to beat for upgradeability, buy what you want now and you can add parts .......

The bearing (shaft) is obsolete, but VPI may have a replacement. VPI is your only source! Call or E-mail. VPI only made 100 per year of the TNT turntables. .......

That may be true, but theoretically if you replace enough parts you can turn any VPI into a TNT. You would probably be better off buying a TNT, but it could still be done. .......

According to this Elusive Disc web page , there are 3 dfferent kits depending on the TNT model. The earlier TNT's require more bits hence higher cost. The prices quoted are: $140 for the TNT 4,5,6 and .......

No prob. If you can't find the old TNT platter you want, check out places like elusive disk that carry VPI. You can get the current inverted bearing and thick all-acrylic platter used on the Aires/Sco .......

VPI has the combined motor & flywheel as one unit, it fits in that curved opening. It also has a rim drive upgrade for it so that those of us who have older (pre v6) TNT's can use a rim drive. I loved .......

If the TNT MK-1/2 has the tri-pulley system then I think it is a step back. I had a fully-modded 19 MK-IV and fortunately lucked into a very reasonably priced TNT-3. I transferred most of what was new .......

Got the bearing from MD today. It did cost $270, plus shipping and tax. The nut is about 1-1/2" in diameter, on a rod that is 1" dia. by 3" long. So I do not know if this is the 3" nut refered to as b .......

Hi Neil, thought I should reply since that's my TNT you have pictured. The actual dimensions of the TNT (including suspension pods) is 19" x 25". VPI recommends that you use a shelf that's 21" x 27". .......

The TNT is one of the few tables that can support a 12" arm. I'd hold out for a used 12" VPI arm, which was designed for that table. You'd need a new cartridge for it though. VPI tables and arms are, .......

AFAIK, there's no way to upgrade the HW-19 series to TNT status. True, you can put a version of the TNT platter and bearing on the HW-19, but I don't believe you can retrofit the TNT plinth/suspension .......

Hi, I was able to use my SDS in the 72v setting for 33 1/3.I dont need to wait for 45sec in order for the platter to run at 33.What I did was to place the belt in a ziplock bag and pour talcum powder .......

The Aries 1 platter is different than the TNT 1 and Mk IV upgrade. I have an Aries 1, a modded TNT-1 and a HW-19 Mk III. Not sure if the TNT 2 used the same platter as the Aries, but the Aries 2 used .......

Doesn't your motor pulley have two grooves in which the belt can run? Both my Aries, and my previous HW-19, have this, so I would be surprised if the TNT didn't. All you need to do is move the belt to .......

VPI discontinued the HW-19 earlier this year and only a limited number of parts are available. But, due to pressure they have a new upgrade kit that uses the TNT 6 platter and baring and a set of 4 so .......

This is only MY opinion and experience but the Aries completely outperforms any incarnation of the 19. For many, the Aries rivals (but may not quite match) the TNT (I have a TNT-IV and agree with that .......

No problem as long as your existing bearing spindle has the three setscrews with center o-ring configuration which true MkIII bearings do not. I upgraded my HW19 to a TNT-5 platter/bearing with the sm .......

On Mike's recommendation, I use Tufoil for both my HW-19 and my TNT. I found that grease in the TNT bearing caused a "wow" that was horrible. Cleaned it added the Tufoil and all was right. ::: TOPIC:: .......

I've noticed the same thing with the TNT JR. The thing is you have to like the sound of VPI. It's a full sound on its own with prodigious bass. The SME sounds completely different to my ears. Faster, .......

You might be aware that TAS, notably HP himself, considers the Aries to be a more neutral table than the TNT. Futhermore, a dealer who I trust has compared a TNT IV, without the "air" feet, to an Arie .......
