I said that because if he line up to 60 mm with the cart straight in the shell then we don't know for sure the outer point. Most Japanese arms use something close to DIN Stevenson : 57.5 mm and 115.52 .......

You're probably right about a 22gm arm being less than optimal for a MM/MI cartridge. I've had good results with high compliance MM/MIs on 14gm arms like the Kuzma 4P and SME 3012R. Never tried a MM o .......

Maybe I can help. Shure MM cartridges have always had a large inductance and this is part of the EQ of the cartridge, if the recommended load capacitance is used. Don't worry too much, in the old days .......

Most will be in the range of 4-5mV and frankly 45dB is a lot of gain for a MM section. Why not just try the Benz on the MM input? Perhaps a 1:10 or 1:5 transformer with the Benz on the MM input loaded .......

If you connect the grounds together and are using a MC cartridge you will get hum. But not if you use a MM cartridge. I can't say if its bull or not, but you could only try it if you use a MM cartridg .......

Doesn't it have a selector switch for MM/MC. If so are you using a MM for both tables. If so it is probably possible to bypass to wire the preamp to skip the MC and give you two MM. I have two MM inpu .......

as J.D. briefly says it is a MC cartridge. 0.9mV output is borderline low for most MM phonostages whch typically have 30-40dB gain. A typical "real" MM is more like 3-5mV output. I am not that familia .......

If you plan to use Baerwald's alignment with null-points at 66-mm and 121-mm, I would recommend mounting your tonearm at 219.5-mm so the cartridge sits more-or-less in the middle of the headshell slot .......

The MCX is a moving iron type cartridge that "behaves" like a MM. Input impedance is 47Kohms capacitance is not critical. Output is 1.5mv which is low for a MM cartridge. This is a rather old Grado bu .......

Don't zap your cartridge with a z-stat, you could mess up the magnets, resulting in buzzing from your cart. Your Goldring cartridge is a MM type and doesn't need demagnetizing anyway. I've using MM ca .......

You may want to compare the same source(LP or CD) in order to isolate the problem. What kind of cartridge you're using? MM or MC(LO or HO?)? Did you connect the same TT and cartridge to the CJ PV-11 M .......

Buster, Either your cartridge is a MC or it is a MM. If it's a MM, it will typically have an output of 5mV and want the standard resistive load of 47Kohm. Some MM cartridges also like a capacitative l .......

Must be a DS-1 Disksaver. Make sure the battery is fresh if its not running on 12 Volts. It seems strange that you can not get enough output to feed the line out jacks on your pre-amp to provide decen .......

I would not go so far as to say that HOMC's are identical to MM's in their loading and gain requirements. I found distinct differences in sound when I tried the default MM settings on my phono preamp .......
