Just kidding, of course, as I know you haven't. I believe you had the Iron Audio, which is about 1/2 the mass of the Groovetracer (39.5oz -vs- 73oz), I believe. I had the same experience with the Iron .......

You might also consider the Groovetracer counterweight. You can get it in different weights, depending on the weight of your cartridge. I liked the Kerry, too. The Groovetracer just does a better job .......

You might try upgrading some of the P25 parts via Groovetracer. I found nice improvements with various upgrades to my RP6 and I didn't have to spend 3-4K. Below is a link to the testimonials page and .......

I love my GrooveTracer delrin platter on my RP6. This gentleman does extremely fine work and he might be persuaded to make one for the Planar 8. You probably will have to have the sub-platter as well .......

There is at least one mod that helps the regas tremendously.....a machined sub platter. It helped my P-5 alot, got rid of the "dry" sound and tightened everything up. The P-7 and P-10 have them also, .......

No not really. By adding weight to both sides of the pivot, you are increasing the resistance for the arm to move in the horizonal plane, whereas, the vertical plane is kept light to accomocate warps. .......

No. I did get a Groovetracer subplatter. I forgot whether you had to add oil at the time. But a couple of years ago, I decided to get a second RP6, just in case. None were available in any other color .......

Have you got the TT-PSU? Have you got the Rega Wall Bracket (RWB)? The Groovetracer subplatter MIGHT be worthwhile for the P5 (see link). I would stay away from the acrylic platter - I suspect it migh .......

I'm not really a tweaker so VPI would never be on my list of TT's to pursue. VPI has the unpleasant, for me, possibility of the never ending upgradeitis disease. It obviously works for their custom .......
