You'd better check a bit deeper about RFI shielding materials. Common copper blocks about 1/3 of the RFI striking it and reflects 2/3 of it. I've spent a great deal of time checking on RFI/EMI shieldi .......

As I understand it EMI is a generic term which does not imply frequency but rather includes all possible EM frequencies. On the other hand terms like RF, Microwave etc. are also refering to EM waves b .......

I think the 'aluminum' paint would be a waste of time. The best EMI/RFI shielding I am aware of is Texas Instruments' TI Shield Material sold by Percy. TI claims that it blocks 98+ % of both EMI and R .......

Mu metal would not be the best choice for shielding IC's in a CD player since you are dealing mainly w/RFI as opposed to EMI where the Mu metal excels. Copper foil would be a second-best choice since .......

Are you building something to look at, or something to listen to ? I'd suggest 1/2" kiln dryed maple to build the enclosure with. Maple is electricaly inert and is also an excellent absorber of vibrat .......

Hum is usually caused by ground loop(s) in a circuit. I prefer to isolate the RCA's from the chassis via plastic shoulder washers so that nasties riding on the chassis aren't injected into the signal .......
