I you have neutral gear, the EH 6SN7 can make other 6SN7s sound woefully slow, bloated, unfocused, and colored. The EH 6SN7 does not play games with the tonal balance. There's (thankfully) no roll-off .......

The EH 6SN7 is probably the best current production. The Chinese ones are pretty poor by comparison. NOS are generally better but the EH are quite good. .......

I got it from the tube shop that sell EH tubes in Singapore, actually it said 6H30P/6SN7 Octal. Sorry there is no word Gold on it. The date is Oct 2001. According to the importer, this is for Mig figh .......

If you like the brown base, go for it. The gold plating (or is it actualy paint?) wears off after the first insertion. It is just a cosmetic finish. If you care for the sound only then by the standard .......

The EH 6SN7 may be exactly the tube you want. Like most EH tubes, it's sound is a "lighter" balance, with more top end energy. They are very nice sounding tubes, and quite inexpensive to boot. ::: TOP .......

I have a self build Sun Audio 2A3, I am useing RCA 5U4GB, EH 6SN7 and EH 2A3. It sound very good indeed. You can tri different 5U4 tube, but stay with 5U4 family, other similar replacement tube don't .......

I've never used a Sovtek I liked, including 6SN7. In fact, I've universally hated them all. It might simply be your personal preference. Matching these small gain tubes won't have much impact and won' .......

I have yet to listen to an American 6SN7 I didn't like. The Sylvania's with the black, triangular style plates seem to have the lowest noise and most pleasing sound to me. In some equipment, the EH 6S .......

I have both of these EH tubes and I think they sound the same. NOS tubes definitely sound better to my ears, even the lower rated 6sn7 gtb types. If you stick with the EH tubes save some money and get .......

The high price of the Psvane is absurd -- there are many great NOS 6SN7 tubes for less money. Just make sure they are quiet, as sellers often give the tube tester results, but don't tell you that tube .......

I have a Sun Audio 2A3 amp, I did try the RCA and Sovtek 2A3 tubes. I like the Sovtek a lot. I believe "some" of the NOS are over rated. Some current production tube are very good. Such as EH/6SN7, EH .......

I would suggest just replacing the single EH and rolling the 6SN7s first. Get a nice quad of NOS Sylvania 6SN7 GT tall bottles from the 1940s or 50s. Not crazy expensive, and you should hear a big imp .......

I've used several dozen makes/brands/vintages of 6SN7s. IMO, the EH is a respectable tube, though rather "plain jane" sounding. The highs get get gritty in some applications but the EH works well with .......

Price always reflect demand and supply balance factor, not always reflect quality, especially a lot people automatically assume higher price, better quality which is not true at all, especially in tub .......

JJ, your tubes could be GT, GTA, or GTB (most likely an early GTB or GT as RCA made few GTAs). RCA was quite consistent with their 6SN7 design throughout the years. Although there are a few iterations .......

I too have the 99 pre. The first thing I can say about the EH 6SN7s is that they need to break in for at least a week. The initial day or two, I had my doubts if these were even ok sounding tubes. Sin .......

I just replaced the EH EL334's with a set of JJ E34L's from the Eurotube guy. $48/matched quad. Nice tubes. More dynamic than the EH's. Maybe a bit more extended in freq. response; more 3D. They rock .......

Yes, I agree completely. The Electro-Harmonix is the best recent production 6SN7 I've heard. Much higher standard than the Sovteks & Chinese valves I've come agross over the last few years - in build .......

I think for the money the EH 6SN7's are great. Nice clean sound, no over-emphasis in any range. You can pick them up or $9-10 USD. Like the other's have said, the Brimar's are nice, a little "thicker" .......

I'm not saying that 7N7 is the best sonically, but it's the best choice for the money at this time; better than spending crazy bucks on new production Psvane, or other overpriced Sino 6SN7 tubes IMHO. .......
