the filament is not part of tubes life . so you be ok to leave the preamp in standby model with no affect on your tubes life .......

I probably did not state my question correctly. Let me try again. Because there is no electron flow thru the tube, in standby, with no plate voltage applied, is the fact that the heaters, the filament .......

Don't have an answer specific to the SF unit, however your question is a good one. I have an amp wherein the standby function eliminated plate voltage and it in effect reduced tube life. The manufactu .......

You are correct in your understanding - in standby mode in the Line series pre-amps, the HT is off but the heaters are still fully powered. I assume that SF did this because tube cathodes don't age mu .......
