1: What exactly does "Exact Match" mean in the search function? (0.00)

One would think it means that it will only search on exactly what you enter, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Instead it will return not only the word you enter into Exact Match, but also any wor .......

It's not possible because it's a real pain to do it on the software side. The message is essentially in the db and in one message html page. The subject is in the db, the message, the replies, the thr .......

Rod, Yes it is still strange. Right now New gets you threads that were started since your last visit, and threads that you never viewed (or so it seems, this last may be inconsistent). The old system .......

I put in a redirect from the old search.pl to the new one which works with a link like this: http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/search.pl?searchtext=mg2b&b=OR&topic=&topics_only=N&author=&date1=&date2=&slo .......

It is trivial if the url reference is predictable and if it has a complete http beginning and is consistent. The problem is making it robust and dealing with correctly coded html, miscoded html and fi .......

Great! This new release of mySQL is much more finely tuned with big improvement in the speed of connection and execution. I also noticed that all the boolean stuff in the advanced search works now too .......
