Wanted to let everyone know I've got a custom set of Mye MMG "Stealth: style stands over on audiogon. Sold the MMG's, but still have the stands if anyone is interested. .......

There are two diffent MYE stands for MMG's, right? One is about $150 and is just 4 'T's that get the spkrs up a bit. But for about twice that there's the MYE 'cross-brace' stand with the little clamps .......

The Mye stands will make them "different" than the 12's, in that the increased stability they provide will result in better definition, focus, and imaging coherence. I suspect that with Myes, 12's wou .......

I am using the Mye T stands on my MMGs. I like them very much. The imrovement in image and soundstage was not subtle. Even my Wife said "the stereo sounded more real", and she rarely appreciates audio .......

I built my own stands for mg12s and own mye stands for my iiias . Getting the 12 up and vertical made a major difference and the mye stands made a huge difference. I don't think you will hear much imp .......

I agree with Rod. These are similar speakers but the mg12 has a bit more mature sounding crossover- while the MMG is tuned for a little bit more WOW factor. I believe that the MMG is now available at .......

Not that I'm any big expert or anything, but I've actually owned the old style MMG's, the stock 12's, and now modded 12's with Mye Stands. I really liked the stock 'old crossover' MMG's. I unfortunate .......

At $550 delivered, with the proper set-up and proper amplification...the MMG has no right sounding as good as it does. I have done A/B comparisons with my MMG's(stock except for fuse bypass and uprigh .......

I totally agree. You can look at the two on paper and say "Not much dif" but sonically (esp when you upgrade crossover and Mye Stand 'em), there IS all the dif in the world. I won't go back to MMG's, .......

I have extensive esperience with both, both in two channel and home theater settings. The 1.6's have better resolution and more bass and can also be bi-wired or bi-amped. They do cry out for more rigi .......

Heh, I went the Home Depot shelf bracket route when I first tried it, then built myself some formal feet by having someone bend and drill some steel of about the gauge of the original feet and attachi .......

I had Sound Anchors drill me extra holes so I could try lower positions since I had read that some people felt elevating the speaker 8" made the MMG's sound "lean" even though it was the ideal height .......

Definitely! I think I mentioned it already but raising them up about 8" and vertical makes a huge improvement in the image, at the cost of some bass extension -- but since you have a sub, bass extensi .......

Generally speaking if you have an MMG and have modified it to lift it off the floor, stand upright and brace it, then the MMG + Sub will be a better choice than a stock 1.6 without subs. Stock 1.6 + s .......

I have long time experience with both and currently have a HT with four 1.6's and a CC-3. The 1.6's are on sand filled MYE stands, which greatly improved their sound. I also have a mini HT in my guest .......

The answer depends greatly on the listening room and budget. If wall mounted speakers are preferred I would go with MG-MC1 in front, MMG-W surrounds and the MMG-C center. If floorstanding speakers are .......

I use the MG12's in a 10x12 room and they sound great. I found adding MYE stands greatly increased thier sound quality. The MMG are good but you migh feel the need to upgrade. I would personally jump .......

I think another difference between the MG12 and the MMG is the quality of the wood surround casing. As I recall the MG12 is a lot more ridged. Magnepan has always had crappy xovers. I wish they would .......

Have you tried any kind of bracing on the panels? My 1.6's were bright and harsh until I put them on Mye stands, then I was able to remove the resistor from the tweeter. Which is another option....if .......

The difference with my MMG, MG-1.5 and Mg1.6 speakers was nominal. Changes in speaker position and addition of Mye Sound stands make a much greater contribution. .......

The Sound Anchor stands place the MMGs upright and a few inches higher. Presentation was more detailed with a slight loss of bass.... Get the MMg off the floor an More upright...cuts base As With most .......

Personally, I think it is a measurable step up. To me the "gap"between the MMG and MG12's is larger than between the MG12's and 1.6's. Tweaking is great, however I feel the MG12's are woefully overloo .......

Actually, I'm using my original MMG stands, But I have only secured them in the bottom screw fastening on the speaker, which has raised the panels up about three inches. They aren't quite high enough .......

Bracing near the top of the speaker is apparently quite effective. I'd expect it to be, since you can feel the Maggie frames vibrating with the bass, which has to result in loss of output and perhaps .......

I'm not sure what the story is with PG's floppy frames but from what he says, I suspect they're acting as a bass resonator, which would increase coloration. The advantage of bracing the frames I think .......
