I do like the way these speakers sound. I haven't tried a gap with these speakers. I did try gaping a Radio Shack 4" full-range driver, mounted on a 200Hz tractrix, and it seemed to reduce a tendincy .......

Horn "honk" is usually caused by one of two things. Either the horn walls are "ringing" which can be dampened by products like dynomat applied to the outside of the horn. Or more often by reflections .......

The terms "squawk" and "honk" appear frequently as issues with horns. I've never seen a useful description of what exactly they mean. Perhaps they merely mean the kind of unpleasant sound that bad hor .......

Depends on the horn but it works is hard to keep in place. Im using eliptical horns these dont have this problem and dont need foam or fiber etc. .......

Hi Ivan, the reason the guy gave was that the 8hd gets honky down at it's cut off freq and the bulb raises the cut off freq by about 200hz. So the freqs coming through are above the honk range. Cheers .......

I concur; I too use AER drivers with Oris 150 horns (with no DSP) and have never heard "honk." With Lowther drivers I heard plenty of "shout," but with the AER's I just hear music. .......

Did you get out your peak reading SPL meter?? I wonder if it's a HOM issue like Geedes describes?? Could be your peak SPL is limited by available power so there is not enough SPL for them to become ob .......

For the end-driven sonotube, you are on track, Douglas. BFM is right--most people these days knock out the lowest honk by offsetting the driver. In the DIY vernacular, that style terminus is commonly .......

I built the BK 16 about 2 months ago. The kit is well laid out and goes together easily. The sound from these is amazing, ONCE THEY BREAK IN. At first they have little bass and honk a bit on some mids .......

According to EV, the mechanical crossover to the whizzer happens at around 4k. If you are crossing the tweeter over at 3.5k, then you probably arent getting a lot from the whizzer, anyway. I wouldnt .......
