You have a design approach for your speaker cables that seems sound - if you have 2 strands of 18 Ga. in parallel to each speaker terminal that's about equivalent to 15 Ga. That's a good gage for mode .......

In your described case; if you are pleased with the twisted pair Cat-5 for your mains, it will do just fine for your subwoofer's high-level input, IMHO. In fact, I would be concerned about the subwoof .......

TNT suggests several configurations and how to deal with biwiring. If you just split the nmuber of pairs in 2 and wire half to tweeter and half to woofer, you have effectively defeated the biwiring. F .......

Have you considered Jon Risch's cross connected coax? Looks like an ideal candidate for long runs- lower capacitance than the CAT 5, and inexpensive enough to experiment with over long runs as well as .......

CAT-5 isn't a great IC wire - I'd try something like the Risch design ICs and make sure they are shielded at those long runs. Keep them off the carpet, etc. Long runs at those distances just aren't gr .......

Drew, I owned a pair of 2Ci's for 12 years and replaced them nearly 3years ago with the 3A Sigs. IMO, the 80W may be marginal for the 2's especially if the amp not capable of delivering more juice as .......

I took time to experiment with both cables. I admit that Cat5 was not teflon insulated, just Poliolefin. Jons coax was exactly belden 89259. Without going into details, cat 5 proved to be favorite amo .......

At less than 3 feet, how expensive can expensive be...but...not knowing what your system is, before going expensive, try more DYI's...coax or cat five....even try reducing your wire gauge...you may be .......
