Slowly but progressing on the pfBO build. These amps are almost identical to my BO except for being parafeed. Mexico series tfa2004 jrs and exo 003 chokes. Both with silver coils. Same 0.25" copper .......

I see that the Vaughn speakers use Ionovac/Dukane rebuilt tweeters. I think that the weakest link of those is the input/step up transformer. Maybe one of Mike's goodies would be a nice improvement? .......

16433 indeed. These are the outputs in the Altec 1569A. I think the amps can be improved. First idea is triode wiring the tubes and getting rid of the gnfb. But there may be some other possibilities a .......

This is the response I'm getting from my edgar 80 hz horns with EV woofers. The graph doesn't seem bad until one figure's out they're supposed to start rolling off around 500 hz. Otherwise Dr Edgar .......

You bet, I use three pairs of Paramounts. DC 2A3. The ones on the bottom drive the midbass horns, the middle ones the RCA 1443s and the top ones are now delivering power to a pair of Ionovac tweeters .......

There was a typo in my original post. Both field coils measure around 5.5 ohms (cold). Speech coil is the one that differs from one driver to the other. Thanks! .......

So I went ahead and secured the WE555 drivers. They need some serious cleaning but they work fine (tested them hornless with a 6 volts battery). The field voice resistance is about double on one .......

The old 515B with the alnico magnet sticks out beyond the back chamber. You have to cut a hole in the back plate and glue on an overlapping plate to accomodate it. Thanks Dr Edgar! .......

Yes. The voltage is indeed pretty stable between 132 and 135 volts. I did some shopping. The isolation transformer is indeed expensive and expensive to bring down here so I'd like to go with the other .......

Hi Paul, The amps have MQ Exo-03 plate chokes and TFA-2004 output transformers. Coupling caps are stock. Parafeed caps on the midbass amps are the stock Solen 3.3uF but in the midhorn and tweeter amps .......

Be aware that the Bottlehead kits are "convertible". The Paramour can be built for 45s or 2A3s and the Paramount for 300Bs or 2A3s. They are also "upgradeable" in the sense that the stock iron can lat .......

Well it did but added too much noise. I used 5k resistors to reduce B+ to about 180v. Probably bypassing the resistors with caps would have helped but didn't try that as this was only a temporary meas .......

DHTs (like 300Bs) have much more hum than indirectly heated triodes (like Sex's 6DN7). Paramount's, however, are very silent compared to other 300B amps because they are DC heated but the SEX amp is t .......

I quit on the idea of weatherproof speakers and put casters on a pair of horns to take them out easily. The wiring is fixed so it takes me less than 5 minutes to set the "system" up. The horns are .......

don't overlook used garrard 301s or 401s. You can get one in decent shape and restore it. Even at today's high prices they are cheaper than many new decks. do a search on the vinyl asylum and you'll f .......

My experience is different. I record my lpīs via a seduction, a FP2 converted as a double buffer (two cathode follower sections one going to my FP3 the other to the CDR) and an old first generation Pi .......

Finally took the Paramounts out of the closet to finish my 5.1 system. Two of them are finished although I need to switch the iron to my MQ upgrade. The other three have the hardware installed and .......

I'm about to implement the reudced noise tweak on my fp3 and while looking for the 147k to which the caps are added in parallel I noticed that one of them I actually measures 147k of resistance across .......

I took me about 8 meonths since Eileen shipped me my Seduction but this weekend I finally put it together. Leaving aside a screw up when modifying the equalization curve that made me drill two more ho .......

Thanks Eli, My FP3 currently has -10dB of attenuation and I will need to attenuate more because I moved to higher efficiency speakers so I don't think that mu/2 would pose a problem I have a couple o .......

There's reference in this forum to the idea of converting either a FP3 or a SeX amp to a 71A line stage. In both cases I'm assuming you only have one triode per channel. The 71A has a mu of 3 and like .......
