7/16" ID x 9/16 OD will work fine. That is what I use on my modified "flavor 4's". I have not attempted 3/8" ID as I wanted a little space between the starquad and the tubing. This will NOT fit in .......

I feel it's a benefit no matter what kind of floor you have. Carpet can convey a static charge, hardwood will vibrate/resonate and carpet over a plywood subfloor will combine the two. I have used 4" .......
