I think the Vinyl Flat works great and is cheap. The key for me is to use consistent heat source. I have the groovy bag but the heat varied from record to record. I bought a table top oven to heat .......

I second the Groove Master Label Saver, it really works great on really dirty records. I also have an Okki Nokki RCM that I use on most of my records. .......

I have the exact experience with Bob's 3440a into my Jasmine and the sound was inferior to the MC section of he Jasmine...too harsh and forward sounding . .......

I had a Luxman PD121 and a Technics SL1200 at the same time and the SL1200 easily bettered the Luxman PD121...I agree the Luxman wins in the looks department. I sold the Luxman and currently still use .......

Just thought I would post a couple pics of the recent mods done to my SL1200. I replaced all the interconnect wire from the circuit board with teflon insulated OCC wire and terminated it with KA .......

Is your Denon supposed to be loaded at 1K? I run a 103 and the manual recommends to run it at 1K. I tried my 103 at 100ohm and it was not as detailed and punchy as with the 1K setting. Also, the volum .......

I prefer the MC section of my Jasmine phono stage over a Bob's SUT with my Denon 103. With the SUT the sound became much harder and fatiguing...basically it made the sound too much in your face and ag .......

I have Omega MaxHemps in a small 13ftx14ft room and they sound great. Omega's are kind of light in the bass in a large room, but they load a small room very well. I don't even turn my REL sub on in my .......

The arm is not rewired but i did replace the interconnect cables with higher quality low capacitance cables. The fluid damper made a big difference in sound quality. .......

I would snip off the connectors leaving about 2-3 inches of wire and install female RCA plugs on the wire so you can use any wire you want. .......

Those will easily fit two 14awg conductors as that is only 11awg and the plugs will accept up to 8awg. So basically these plugs will accept four 14awg conductors as that equals 8awg. .......

I had it the other way around...the cart came with two sets of screws(short and long) and I used the longer screws first, which were to long and that's why they would not tighten the cart to the heads .......

Since your amp is very efficient I would go with a cord at least 15awg and shielded to keep that switching amp as quiet as possible. I like solid core over stranded, but sometimes people need the flex .......

I agree with you...from turntable to phono pre I use shielded cables, but from phono pre to integrated amp I use unshielded cables. The out going signal from the phono pre is supposed to be line level .......

I had the same issue with my Proton AP1000 preamp(higher end NAD)and it turned out that I had a bad connection with the tone direct switch. I tightened up the connection and never had the problem sinc .......

Unless the record was "play graded" I don't think it would be fair to ask for a return. Some people sell records and don't even own a turntable, so they can only give you a grading based on a visual i .......

Yes in my opinion the phono preamp can make more of a difference than your amplifier. The phono amp is really important for vinyl playback...and like Opus 104 said; it does not have to be very expensi .......

It's a really nice sounding preamp with great detail and deep solid bass. Strings and brass sound really good through this pre. Bass is not over bearing, but when the recording calls for it, the bass .......

I don't know about recording, but I much prefer to listen to tapes than ceedees. Tape hiss aside, I find tapes(pre-recorded) to sound more pleasing. .......

I guess the method that I use is better than either system. I use an old turntable to spin the record using my own cleaning fluid and a double distilled water rinse. I use paper towels and microfib .......

Yes...that would be my PD264 that had the same problem...I took the bottom of the table off and followed the wires that ran from the power supply to the tonearm(blue wires on the PD264)and cut them .......

Yeah, I agree... Cary is hardly thin or etched...thin and etched sounds more like Ayre than Cary. Not saying Arye is thin and etched, but Cary is definately warmer than Ayre. .......

I don't record any cassettes, but I listen to pre-recorded cassettes on my Nakamichi Cassette Deck 2 everyday. I prefer vinyl the most, but tape comes in second place,and cd comes last. .......

This is my little record cleaning station.I manually clean my records by hand with an old TT and various brushes and home-brew cleaners and distilled water. I achieve excellent results by hand wash .......

It is always good to hear other people who hear the merits of good pre-recorded tapes. I now hunt for jazz tapes like I do for vinyl at charity shops, but I also buy cassettes on eBay. .......

The low powered T-Amps sound nice with simple music and Hi-Eff speakers, however the higher powered T-Amps are better for more conventional speakers and more demanding music.I have a T-AMP 90 .......

I took that into consideration and was very careful with installing the sand.I thought about placing a piece of clear packing tape over the pockets so the sand will not have a chance to come out. ::: .......

Once the heavy rubber mat is put back on the platter the records will be safe from the sand...and the sand is not quite to the top of the "pockets" so it won't run over. .......

My Luxman PD-264 platter has these deep empty "pockets" around the circumference of platter so when I removed my mat to clean it I decided to fill the "pockets" with sand. I read that adding weight .......

No not new to vinyl...I've been using gloves to handle my records for years. The technique of sliding the record out into the palm of your hand...only touching the label and the edge is much more tedi .......

For me it is much easier to just put on the gloves and take the record out of the sleeve as opposed to carefully sliding the record into the palms and grabbing by the edges...YMMV. .......

It depends on how much teflon tape you need to protect your wire sufficiently...if you don't need that much then don't worry about it as it will be easy... but you really want the insulation uniform f .......

If you can get the teflon tape evenly distrubuted along the length of the cable it will make a big difference compared to the PVC...the hard part is getting it even along a long length. .......

I can't say for sure about how thick the actual wires are inside the insulation, but if they really are as thick as you think they are; then I think that the manufacturer probably trims the wires to m .......

Remove the old connectors...strip back the insulation...twist the two conductors together...crimp on an appropriate sized copper crimp tube from WBT...install the set screw connectors of your choice ; .......

I think MOSFET transistors are smoother and warmer sounding than Bipolar transistors. MOSFETS sound more "tube" like and Bipolars sound more "transistor'ish". .......

You can use some heatshrink to cover the exposed wire...1/2" heatshrink would work on the tails of the Oval 9. .......

They are OK, their strength is the amount of bass they reproduce in OB, but they could use a little more sparkle in the highs. .......

No I have not heard the system in person...but if a Youtube clip sounds good, it must sound good in person. However, I have heard the Fe126e and the FE167e in open baffle and they did sound good indee .......

I vote for solid core powercords. If they are properly terminated and constructed they are IMHO much better than stranded powercords. The only benefit of a stranded powercord is flexibility. ::: TOPIC .......

Yes that one grain does have a direction, but the human ear is not sensitive enough to hear the signal traverse one grain that is hundreds of times smaller than a grain of sand. .......

You are correct OCC has zero grain boundaries in the crystalline structure which makes it not directional. You should not hear any difference if you run the hot and ground wires in the opposite direct .......

I recommend my 24awg for wiring the RCA jacks and 20awg for the speaker terminals. I would also recommend 24awg for the twisted pair interconnects. I use a T-Amp as my primary amp and it totally trans .......

Yes a 10A power cord would be totally fine with the 4A power supply of your T-Amp. T-Amps are really sensitive to the quality of the power cord used. Don't worry about the current rating of powercords .......

I was so used to amps being plenty loud at 9 o'clock that when I had to turn my current amp up to 2 or 3 o'clock for the same loudness; I though something was wrong. I much prefer having room to play .......

Yup you are correct Steve...my previous tube amp I could only turn the volume up to 9 o'clock and the sound was too loud and congested...with my 100wpc T-Amp I have to turn the volume up to 2 o'clock .......
