I had taken apart my 20.1's and from what I remember the bass-mid panel drops into the frame and is secured when the other half of the frame is installed and screwed together, unfortunately I cant fin .......

That could have been me. I sent the bass-mid panels back in both speakers removing them from the speaker frames. I made wood enclosures for shipping it kept the cost to ship under $100 at the time. Pr .......

I'm currently using a McIntosh MEN220 that uses room perfect by Langford. It's also my crossover as I am bi-amping it really has made a difference. .......

I previously used a Lyngdorf RP1 (no longer available new) and since have went to a McIntosh MEN220, I like the MEN better due to the fact you can only set low or high pass and not both with the RP1 s .......

Everything is on its own outlet amps are on their own circuit the crossover may share the circuit I am not sure. But I have unplugged everything and still get the buzz sometimes. .......

My listening area is about 18x45 my sitting area is about 14ft away from the speakers. I used to use CDs exclusively I have a Macintosh MPV 871. But since I started streaming I very rarely use it much .......

I had a similar issue with my early Magtech, I contacted Roger directly and after our conversation I sent it out to him on a Monday and had it back repaired that same Friday, this level of service is .......

The quasi ribbon on the mid range panel. With the magnets being riveted together there's no way I can see them. Usually when they take it apart the wireing comes apart, they took care taking mine apar .......

GL my 20.1's are far past warranties they were bought in 2007. You would think with all the issues and expense I've had I would get some consideration they had the panel since the 1st week of this mon .......

Prior to bi-amping I blew my share of tweeter and the occasional mid range fuse, and a couple ribbons, since I have bi-amped I very seldom even blow a tweeter fuse and never a mid-range since the pane .......

They are 200 and 300 it was originally 135 and 300. The change was made after some time after the 1st panel was repaired. Also if I have an issue somewhere in the system I would tend to think it would .......

If I remember correctly the machine screws hold the panels together and are underneath the socks. The styles are held together with wood screws but they are all above the socks .......

I've been in customer service for over 30 years and Magnepan is at the very top of my list. I have had several occasions where I have dealt with them, mostly replacement ribbons, and to talk directly .......

With all the progression I took with my system I can tell you that active bi-amping made the most difference. I stayed analog using a Marchand XM44. I will say I'm not an engineering expert like a lot .......

Thanks Roger, that explains a lot, what's the use of having the fuse then? that's a poor design by Magnepan, I rarely blow midrange fuses, I've blown a few tweeter fuses but an exchange tweeter for $1 .......

The 20.1's are newer so delam is not an issue, but I was under the impression that the mid-tweeter took less power to drive than the bass, if what you stated is true would I be better off switching th .......

It may have, at 1st I replaced the fuse hopeing that was all it was but I was wrong, but after playing for a while the new fuse blew too, so maybe the fuse did originally save it. I get the ribbon fry .......

No, everything is the same. About two years ago the mid range failed the plastic that mounted the inductor was melted it turned out that the panel failed and I sent it back to Magnepan for repair, at .......

I had the 7bst's older models,, but YES and that was with my 3.3's and 20.1's so if you plan on upgrading, the Magtech will have you covered. .......

I was using a set of Bryston 7bst mono-blocks and went to the Magtech, bigger soundstage more headroom and warmer sound, the Magtech was a huge upgrade in my opinion. .......

I'm not sure on the 20's if you have access to the mid panel but if your buzz is coming from the bass the only alternative would be to send them back to Magnepan for replacement. They will NOT send yo .......

There was a short in the power line due to a design flaw in the shielding in the early Magtechs according to Roger. It has been corrected some time ago and only a few of the early Magtechs were affect .......

Took it apart yesterday after finding out the midrange was dead, not really bad at all the halves were screwed together after removing them it camr apart with no problem, but the panel is riveted t .......

Well you were right (unfortunately)I replaced the inductor that did not fix it and then I replaced the caps for the midrange and that didn't fix it either. I still get nothing, and when I turn the vol .......

Just talked with Shelia at Magepan (their customer service is totaly OUTSTANDING!)found out that the specs are 17AWG and DCR is .48ohms so the wire on the replacement is thicker and ohms are close but .......

I did order one for the other speaker also but I probably wont replace it for a couple weeks. The Jantzen is .2 inches taller and a wider but the with is 2.2 and there is over 3in space for it. ::: TO .......

It sure looks that way, I'm driving the Bottom with the Magtech and the top with a Sanders ESL. I do crank it up and saw another post on upgrading the internal crossover and read where this may happen .......

I have, for 30 years, I originally had a phase liner 400 amp, after the second time I fried it I went to a McIntosh C2200, then 2 of them and added a sub-woofer.I had the DQ's for 30 years and upgrade .......

The Magtec runs 5K for the stereo version, with a lifetime warranty. Other than the fact I liked it better than the 7bst is the fact that when (and if) I upgrade to the mono's, 10K Roger will give me .......

Yea I must have missed some on the 1'st repair. I removed the tweeters and was able to lift the sock enough to get acess to the loose wires. So again I repaired them with the dap and we will see what .......

About 6 mos ago I performed a delam repair on my 3.3's and now their buzzing again. I used the Peter Gunn repair procedure using Dap cement and finishing with a good coat of krylon,and listening last .......

I love my Velodyne DD15 previously had a ULD15 for over 20 years when it finally quit sent it to Velodyne they deemed it unrepairable (parts no longer available) gave me a SUPER deal on the DD15, fant .......

I have had only 2 MC2200's before I recently got a MC352. As far as price a MC352 is about the same price as the 252 around 3K on audiogon. I like the higher output and I think build quality is equal. .......

I have 3.3's with a Velodyne DD15 sub. I can't imagine a better match since the DD15 is fully adjustable and you can dial it in to whatever sound or volume you want, and with the remote you can make a .......

I had DQ 10's for over 30 years (just recently replaced them) I had as much as 400wpc of mcintosh power driving them. I think you will need at least 200wpc to be happy with them. BTW @$30 you STOLE t .......

I had Dahlquist DQ10's for 30 yrs before the Maggie's and I still like them a lot (although their for sale) and was told then that the logical change was the Maggies. And their low cost. .......

Not sure why maggie owners don't like McIntosh, I have a set of 3.3's driven by a MC352 and it kick's ass but i do also have a subwoofer which I feel is a must with maggies. Just my opinion ::: TOPIC: .......

I wouldn't have anything else either, I have had nothing but GREAT experience with McIntosh over the last 30 years. Maybe that extra 50WPC makes a difference but I think its a combination of a large r .......

The total room is about 25x40 its a basement. there is a wall about 15ft back but 15ft to the left of the main listening area (staircase)the maggies are positioned on the right side of the room about .......

Actually I listen to mostly to Steely Dan,Elton John, etc. I do also listen to rock sometimes but they seem to rock out fine. I find I push the amp mostly with Steely Dan and the like. I don't feel I' .......

Thank you everyone, I started playing with the Velodyne and fine tuned the Sub. I adjusted the equalizer (in the sub boy this thing can be adjusted a hundred ways) set it at 45hz and WOW!!. Muddy soun .......

I run my 3.3's full range as I have found there is a loss of sound quality going through the subs crossover, I have a Velodyne DD15 sub.(crossover at 80Hz) And in my case it blends perfectly doing so. .......

Thanks for the response. I am running the sub from the main rca jacks from the C42. I contacted McIntosh and that was what they recommended. It seems to work fine I did notice an improvement with the .......
