Likely your preamp...Start preamp first, count to 30, then turn on amp. Upon shut down the opposite. Also could be amp - but my bet is pre, especially if tubed... .......

The Quicksilver amps sum both bias current (evidenced by the single bias pot), so 100ma is 50ma per tube, which is right around where you wanna be (unfortunately with single bias pot, you are somewhat .......

Instead of buying a Quickie amp, I just built a pair of monoblocks from a schematic. I chose the 8417 as it was one of Sanders faves. Those 8417 tubes are very sensitive, expensive, easily driven, and .......

Make sure the three paralleled connections - red (Bias) blue and white are bundled together from all panels, and securely in the interface connectors. You wont get any sound if bias is not hooked up ( .......

I have to listen very closely to my 2+2 HF pot to hear any real difference. Removing the pot and going straight thru will maximize HF. Again, you would not hear much difference doing that than maxing .......

There should be a HP capacitor in that circuit that you won't get thru - make sure you measure resistance across the ribbon to see if you have continuity. You may just have a bad cap/resistor or solde .......

1+1 are great speakers...BUT, the one you are considering on ebay have the Passive Sub, which has the MK-121 interface with Sub Out, that I believe is not full range, as the panels are limited to 100h .......

I had the T-IVa and now have the 20.1. The 20.1 just cannot do the mid bass and lower bass quality of the T-IVa. Only the 1 ohm Scintilas were able to meet (and beat) that bass quality. But the mids a .......

Your standard 10 Meg Ohm DMM cannot read past 1000V (likely), but you can still use a standard DMM - it will "load" the high voltage / low current of the bias circuit, so typicality 75v on a normal DM .......

If you really wanna make them sing, raise bias voltage - there is a pot on the pcb in interface - using regular DVM (not high voltage meter) you should read around 65-70vdc at red bias pin, raise it t .......

i is best to match gain on amps used to biamp. Otherwise you can match the gain between different amps with an active crossover, like the DCX2496. .......

The KSA-50 is different - it did / does everything right, which is why it is frequently on "all time best" amp lists... largely because it operates in Class A and can supply some pretty impressive amo .......

I have heard Quad ESL63 and I was totally impressed. They were fantastic speakers that have the nod as far as detail over the Acoustat. BUT, the Quads were much more delicate than the Acoustats. You g .......

The amp in the pic is the KSA-50 in an Aleph Style chassis - the chassis / quad of heatsinks are 14" x 10" with 2.5' long fins each...that's why I am able to biased it to the hilt - and this still .......

Pretty impressed so far....I do not believe I have the C Mod (think I saw that blue electrolytic) so that will be the first thing, then add another Cap/Diode onto the multiplier, Charge indicator Neon .......

I use my DEQ2496 for Bass Digital Equalization only on mine, Digital in from source, Digital out to my DAC. Works great. I have the Behringer 8800 mike too. The internal DAC is quite bad, tho. ::: TOP .......

I have Duetta Sigs. Bi wired or Bi amped? Bi amping requires disconnecting some wires in the crossover (at least on the Duetta Sigs) With a ohm meter, you should get around 3.2 ohms on tweeter posts. .......

I think the DC Resistance on tweeter ribbon on the Caliper is around 3.1 ohm, woofer panel is around 3.9 ohms, so amp will not short direct driving eiether the tweeter ribbons, or the woofer panel... .......

My guess is the original poster has Caliper Signatures? Not Standard Calipers? There may be a section in the Caliper Signature Manual that allows an Active Biamp Operation, bypassing all internal cros .......

That is the cable you connect to the tweeter (or woofer) binding posts to go direct to the tweeters (woofers) for the active crossover. I have them on my Dueatta Sigs...you should have a couple wires .......

As far as phasing, always go with that gives the higher db. Sounds like your speakers may be fine, but your amp or preamp possibly the inverting type. What is your amp and preamp? Is you preamp a simp .......

If you have heard the 500ASP, then there is little difference to the 1000ASP. I have never run my ICEpower amps on a 1 ohm Scintilla, so I cannot confirm nor deny. I have read of some who have on DIYA .......

CLS were a bit lacking in the high-highs. The T-IVa definitely had it over the CLS - but they were brand new ribbon tweets too. I won't say that the Apogees are beneath the T-IVa - I need a bit more t .......

The CLS has damn near perfect mids. If its sonething the T-IVa lacks is that mid. The low end and top end the T-IVa has it, no question. But in the end, the T-IVas were just too big, and the T-IVa bas .......

The T-Id I had did not have the same slam as the T-IVa. I have had two T-IVa and a single pair of T-Id. I always cruise CL for an inexpensive set that needs refurbishment...they are out there...just .......

Green, every Magnepan I have been in is wired like that. They require that config to be in proper phase. The "hot entry" points on the bass and tweeter panels are at the same location on both speakers .......

Yes, the Bel Canto Reference is an 1000ASP, and the M300 (and S300) is an 200ASC module...ASC series is, I believe, newer / better, than ASP... I currently only really use the 1000ASP for bass duty.. .......

I tried to scrape off coating and solder and it was a disaster. Just not possible. I then twisted the bare wires together and put a dab of silicone on it. worked ok, but eventually disconnected itself .......

Yes, If I didn't have my IVas, I would still be quite happy with the IDs. The more time I spend listening to them, the more I am amazed at their sound - the simple 2 way, 1st order design is perfect f .......

I will leave it with Mylar towards back. Still sounds quite nice. Compared to my T-IVa's (3 way - bass panels to 250hz) the T-ID (2 way - bass panels up to 1000hz) they definitely sound different. The .......

??? Yikes... My Tympani IVa were stock with mylar facing back for sure. I don't think previous owner knew enough to switch them around... I have read in a few places and its all over the place, but mo .......

My room is 18' long x 14' wide x 8' high. The T-IVas are 3'from back wall. Rug hanging behid on wall. Haven't located where the CLS are going just yet... .......

I am actually planning on playing with Tymp IVa bass panels and the IVa ribbon tweets, with a ML CLS on midarange. I just plan on pulling the mid freq fuse....hopefully next week... .......
