Well, I ended up sending the Stradas back to Gallo. In the end, they were just too bright for me. I have never had fatigue set in so soon with any other speaker. I couldn't listen at high volume for m .......

So far, the Strada's are still a little thin in the mids; you don't get a real sense of body in guitars and especially cellos. Female voices are stunning but lower male voices are not as convincing. m .......

It's good to know that I can try the Strada in my system without any commitment for two months, I guess if it's not my cup of tea I'll just move on... I'm so tempted by the Amphion line of speakers so .......

Hmm... My totems are small but produce a very satisfying and engaging sound. Maybe the gallos are trash, i dunno; they do a bang up job with movies and video games but for real music listening the sys .......

I have the sony 5400 with the accompaning 6400 receiver with hats. Never ever listen to it! It is so lifeless... When i used it (5400) in my main rig via the analog two channel it was very good but no .......

I recommend the Mcintosh mcd-1100. Balanced outs, 5 digital inputs and the best cd/sacd playback I have ever heard at any price... The ayre you mentioned sounded muffled and limp in comparison, just p .......

I went for the 6400es since it was a super low price... I guess i'll find out if the hats interface is any good and at least I will know from first hand experience; if it sucks, i wont be out too much .......

It is literally impossible to use live performance as a reference for judging the quality of a recording unless you are comparing the same instruments in the same acoustic. In one space a violin will .......

I wouldn't say that the Ayre is sterile, maybe a little lean in the mids and clean in the highs but very clear in the bass; the overall color being neutral. My problem with it was its presentation; fl .......

Actually, I did listen to the mcd-500 in the shop and compared it with the Ayre and honestly preferred the Ayre. My preference for the Ayre was probably system dependent which is strange that I prefer .......

I don't think you can blame the format for your bad impressions. Though I agree that sacd is superior to cd, in my experience it is a pretty subtle difference. Well recorded music on cd will sound gre .......

Comparing the Audio Note source with the Sony is difficult because their presentation is so different. The AN gear is much more vibrant and sounds "live" and alive. I prefer the AN for most music even .......

No speaker can do what an orchestra can do; just not possible. A bass drum is larger than any subwoofer and it has but one task. I think all hifi is an approximation of reality and its always a give a .......

I'm not sure I would consider over 60 recordings of this work in print to be, "a dearth of recordings." plenty of high quality recordings to choose from... I would recommend Zinman/Zurich or Harnoncou .......

If you like the Bach/Podger SACD you should definitely own her Haydn Concerto/Mozart Sinfonia Concertante recording. I think it is even more polished than the Bach recording! .......

I like to compare audio with visual equivalents. In this case I would say that a dark sounding audio component is akin to a photograph that is taken in a lower light or with an aperture compensation s .......

Im a big fan of audio note gear and if you like the british sound, you just cant go wrong with an Oto integrated with some AN-K or AN-J speakers. I believe AN to be the most refined sound available. T .......

I would start with a different preamp. Depending on your budget, an Audio note M2 or higher would take the edge off and would likely fill out the mid range nicely. Used M2's go for around 2k. ::: TOPI .......

IMHO, the MF gear is what is creating a harsh top end, not your cables.... .......

I think I know the problem. While waiting for proper stands I am using the stands for the J's which are taller and have a smaller footprint than the proper stands and thus not stable at super high dyn .......

Well this was a bit of a buzz kill; after closer inspection I found out that these are speakerlab k horn kit speakers. Soo, not Klipschorns... Oh, well; I think I will still have some fun with them. T .......

Actually, I have heard Bose systems that sounded better than this one did. I guess the set up was just bad . Don't get me wrong, this system wasn't bad, it just wasn't all that good; hence the comp to .......
