Hi, In this case I mean as the input/driver. Something like: 1:1+1 - EL84 PP - 1+1:1+1 - 300B PP - OPT I know the gain will still be low, but with an active low impedance preamp I think it may be oka .......

Honestly, it's impossible to know without being there. If it wasn't playing too loud and it sounded that bad, it's likely that one the speakers were wired with opposite polarity. It's a very easy mist .......

I can't speak to long term use, but short term use the Yamamoto are extremely well made. I'm using 71a's though and the current is much lower. The price is also quite high. .......

Years ago I sold Onkyo/Integra products. They had a compression mode called "Late Night" which boosted the rears and flattened the dynamic range for late night viewing/listening. I'm with these guys .......

I remember the 845 Dinosaur circuit from SP...but why would someone want to use a 211 at such a low voltage? Is it for safety? Otherwise, why not use an easier cheaper tube if you only need a few watt .......

The one in my guitar makes a ridiculous amount of scratching noise that I can't get rid of when I turn it. The one in my preamp works fine. I couple of turns accomplish "self cleaning" but it doesn't .......

The B+ doesn't go through the 3 minute delay though right? only a 5V component of the B+? At least that's how I read it. Wait...I get it. That 1 sec mosfet delay into the DPDT relay doesn't kick over .......

Difficulty and expense are predicated by experience level and resources. I didn't think it was too difficult and if you use off the shelf iron that isn't custom the expense doesn't have to be too high .......

Thanks Dan for running the simulation. IIRC, the first choke in a choke input with an 83 has to be 10H or less so we're good there. I think...at least from tube data sheets and the RCA tube manual tha .......

Thank you both. The SPU Royal N is a phenomenal cart for the money. I don't feel like it gets its due in the press which is maybe why it's still "affordable" given the experience it offers. Vintage c .......
