I think braces do a lot with 20.1, the mye is in my eyes only a one point fixation which only halfs the swinging frequency(like holding a finger on the guitar string). I did some ally stands which .......

The heat input on the mylar is quite large if it is painted black as here. Also the difference between a clear mylar and black can cause strange shrinking then we have a metal frame which also gets a .......

Maybe one of the panels is out of phase? Because it is strange both panels would be weak at the same rate. Somebody working on the internal wiring? Try it in mono one panel each time. .......

You could use the silver conductive paint/ epoxy like which is used in modelling. I repaired a faulty contact on pc board, where solđring was inpossible. .......

Ups, I missed that only up to 60W was the desired power. The GRAAF GM200 can easily put 200W into 8 and still 134W into 4 Ohm load. .......

I use Magnepan 20.1 with the huge GRAAF GM200 OTL/OCL amp, sounds fantastic , no problem with the match. The sound is incredible real. .......

Otl definetly rules, even better when OTL/OCL which larger amount of power to work even with difficult speakers. I am using a GRAAF GM200 with 32 Pl504 (27gb5a) on Magnepan 20.1 and they can handle it .......

The speakers mentioned by me are not high efficency , but stil higher then Mg. They are not box so dipol design which helps a lot. .......

Thats what I was thinking before hearing it the other way. Low efficency(sensitivity), compression and the foil produces limitations and we cant go around it. It is hard to confess but... .......

As far I know they were well driven by the Hafler amps... Otl is great if the right size and type. I use a Graaf gm200 on my mg 20.1 and it would do a great job on your Acoustats. In my case the OTL/O .......

I also didn' t believed a tube amp can beat a large SS , but it can and even more, a good one can outperform it in every aspect. Shure a kit china tube amp is not in the same league but a good design .......

You can use a wodden crate, but you must do it right. The inner cardboard should be tight in the crate.This prevents from jumping in the crate. The best and easiest way is to use 1/2 "or even 1" thick .......

I have heard from Mariani (GRaaf owner) that the 32 pl504 should be matched in octets!!! So maybe 80 tubes is not enough to get it right even for one side.... He has a very strickt policy on that, and .......

I also found a nice gm200 checked personaly by mr.Mariani himself. The PL504 tubes used, by his words one of the best and rare are RCA. What only makes me think is that the unit has only the unbalanc .......

Exactly, they need a lot of temperature changes and a lot of playing as much as possible. Maybe you would give a "large" amp a try to see if there is a positive effect. :) This often occurs with large .......

I think that MG can't handle so much as 120dB, maybe some 105-110 if we are happy. And this only for short bursts and not in long time periods. This is simply the nature of planars. But we must consid .......

It depends where you start to count with 1W. 50 w is enough for normal listening. But we all know that good music has peaks up to as much as 20 db . Thats the time you need power for a short time. And .......

The same as always, 3dB change doubles the power needed. 20 dB 100 W, 23 dB 200 W... The only problem is that the efficency given by the manufacturer is often higher as the actual. Also the fact that .......

Both amps have no problems with normal levels, but when there will be some peaks( a lot of them with classical or uncompressed music), thats the time a small one will clip. The average listening ratio .......

Watts have nothing to do with playing louder, we all know that. If a speaker like Mg with 85db/1w efficency wants to play loud it must be feed with a lot of power, every increase of 3 dB takes double .......

It is possible if transformers are used, which raises the ribbons low impendance of only 1 or even less Ohm via transformer by a factor. Different lenghts can lead to errors multiplied with this facto .......

Don't go for a XO in this important region, you should use a 60Hz highpass or even lover. You can use different amps, but you must match their levels exactly. .......

The problem with IB is their position, mostly way behind the speakers, especially with planars which stand more then 6 or 7 foot from the wall. The delay can get quite noticeble, and you dont' want to .......

I would rather go fullrange on 20.7, the roll off they have will be filled with the low XO point of the subs. 20.1 or 20.7 have good bass, but it is still not as dynamic as it is defined( which is sup .......

It makes a big difference if you measure the dB range on the output(speakers) or on the recording. That also proves you can't get all of the dynamic range out of your speakers being on the record. And .......

Maybe a bit unusual approach but it works great. There are the PA and studio use amps MC2 AUDIO(uk) which have plenty of good and controled current, highly stabil down to 1Ohm and proven to work great .......

Not only the band under 40Hz has problems, the part for the punch and dynamics is a little higher.. I also think that the xover with 18db and 12db steals a lot of dynamics. Why you think they have the .......

I agree with you. I have them some 5-7 feet from the front wall, also some 3-5 feet from the side walls. Tested a lot of positions in my 18,5 x 24,5 x H(8 to 10.5 feet raising slope) room. I drive the .......

Any other approach to get more dynamics out of a 20.1 in the low and middle region, where to be honest ist the weakest point of them? I think that a not so radical X-over lets say 1 order would give s .......

I was not talking about the vibrations on the perforated steel plate. Even before you hear or detect them you can feel and hear the vibrations of the outer mdf frame. .......

So you think I will gain some good results? If you touch the outer frame when playing some heavy bass notes, you can feel the outer frame to vibrate , also you can hear it if you press your ear to the .......

I was thinking to make it out of 1/2" aluminium and have it screwed on to the existing screws and bolts. The two pieces (L and R)will be connected where the original x-over sitts. The aluminium pie .......
