No - I only owned the Rega. My point is, as you're essentially buying "sight" unseen (i.e. you've not heard either of your suggestions), that the Rega is an alternate - and excellent - choice in your .......

Right off, I've not heard any Schiit DACs (though I've heard a lot of... nevermind). For the price of the standard Bifrost, the Rega DAC is well within your reach - certainly used, but I very recently .......

Turns out it was the copper ground tag that hides just behind the counterweight stub. It WAS a ground issue after all. The tag wasn't exactly floating around the inside of the armtube, but it also was .......

No problem. Either set of jacks would work - choose the one that sounds better to your ear. FWIW, My vintage Ohm C2s are 6 Ohm speakers, and they sound fine on the 8 ohm taps. I haven't tried the 4 oh .......

Make sure your amp and source(s) are connected to the correct RCA jacks on the back. You probably have your source plugged into one of the "funky" inputs... If it's a turntable, make sure it's plugged .......

In general, 6N1P is *not* a direct replacement for 6922 due to higher current draw. That said, it can be used safely in the Curcio upgrade & premium boards - it explicitly says so right on his website .......

As I stated in my 2nd post, it's probably not the transformer, but rather a bad solder joint on the EL34 -- *not* the 7199 -- socket. With all due respect to Russ, the key is the EL34s go dark as well .......

it sounds like your transformer. The 7199 heaters feed off one of the EL34 heaters, so it sounds like the heater supply for the right channel is flaky. Could be a short, but I'm certainly no expert. O .......

IIRC, some factory-wired units have wires passing under the right channel tube. If this is the case, reroute them. Of course, you may have to replace them if there isn't enough slack... .......

I have been running my rebuilt ST-70 with the Mullards that came with it. Bias has been easy to set with 2 5.6K resistors in the bias supply. When I plug in my Svetlanas, however, the bias is too high .......

Yep, that's the one. It's not quite like a hot knife through butter, but it'll get through. Sometimes it took a few nibbles to finally make it through, but mostly it depends on the strength of your gr .......

While I hate to admit it, I used a $12 nibbler from RadioShack to enlarge the quad cap hole to accommodate the chubby JJ jobber... Nice clean cut, and probably just the ticket for what you need as it .......

All 4 of your original tubes (besides the 12x4 rectifier) are 12AX7s. Joe's line stage board takes a single 12AT7 (I don't think this is indicated on the website); the phono board requires a pair of 6 .......

Good point. Could be a bum socket rather than a coupling cap (see my other post). But again, the problem appears to be local rather than systemic. I strongly suggest trying some relatively simple thin .......
