It's good to have choices, but it's not the same DAC. Email Pedja and inquire. His English is excellent. Frankly, DAC reviews drive me nuts. I have never liked upsampling and favor NOS DACS. I rolled .......

I agree with Lokie, give the JJ KT77's a try. I have the Gold Lions too. They are a bit tilted up compared to the JJ's. Just be sure you get them from a dealer that properly tests and matches them. :: .......

I had that preamp. The included Tung-Sols were not a good match in my rig but they may be in yours. I found them to be too bright. RCA and Tung-Sol round plates were the cure. Sylvanias did not work e .......

The GL KT 88's are hard to beat. Try searching here for various 6SL7's. The new Tung Sols are ok but old production 6SL7's are not expensive and worth a look. Tube World Express is well regarded. Chec .......

I have not heard it but I had a TRK-3488 that was a nice little amp. I believe the Cary 300B SEI, an integrated 300B, has a headphone section. I would definitely call Gordon at Wavelength and discuss .......

I have an Inspire LP27a preamp. Two 27 or 56 tubes, a 6SN7, 6SL7, 6BX7 or 6BL7, and an 80 rectifier. The 56 tubes add 3db of gain. The CJ5 is better according to those that have heard it and the LP3.1 .......

Sound wise, IMHO, the CV-181-Z is on the rich/dark side. The CV-181 T is a bit more open. The CV-181 T-II grey glass bronze base is more open, perhaps a bit tilted up. The WE 6S*7 and WE 6S*7 is more .......

When I saw RCA 6sn7's going for over $350 for one...I said that's it! I've used a lot of 6SL7 & 6SN7's over the last 25 years. The Psvane and Shuguang Treasure variants better NOS in my rig. YMMV. ::: .......

Good move on taking it to the shop. Clean the tube sockets too. I use Scotch Brite pads to clean tube pins and Deoxit on a pipe cleaner for the sockets. .......

In any case it is good not to let a lot of solder flow up into the base as it could end up shorting a couple pins together. That's why, IMHO, the tube should be upright. But Caucasian BP had success u .......

All the Inspire amps are quite good. You may want to consider the EML solid plate 45 tube. I preferred them to the mesh version. I used them in a Korneff 45 years ago and could not go back to NOS. A 4 .......

The Shuguang KT66z may be just what you are looking for. They are 'richer' than the GL KT66. Alternatively, search for Arizona capacitor. These look like modern Vitamin Q's and they hail from Westcap. .......

They are paper in oil caps but I'm not sure who made them. To change them requires a little soldering that you could easily do. I won't suggest a replacement at this time because I think that is a per .......

I just looked at the manual for your amp. It's not tube rectified..no big deal. A bias setting of 160ma is what the manual says but that may exceed the limits of your particular tube. Look up the data .......

If it sounds good...it is good. I have used and liked the 6SN7W's in a Korneff 45 amp as well as the 'usual suspects'. I no longer have the amp but a friend has one and he loves the Shuguang CV181/6SN .......

AFAIK Valve Art are Shuguang export grade are nice tubes. The driver tubes may make a bigger difference than the power tubes. .......

The Valve Art 6550's are warm. Whatever you decide on get the tubes from a vendor that does thorough testing. I find the new TS 6550 to be linear but 'cool'. YMMV. .......

You can get a volume pot on the Latino ST-70 so no preamp needed unless you have more than one source. The amp will run EL34, 6CA7, KT77, 6L6's, 6550's and KT88's. I'd also consider have Bob assemble .......

After using both JJ and Gold Lion KT77's, IMHO, you would not be unhappy with the Gold Lions. They are more extended on the top then the JJ's. I was considering the Treasure or MKII 6CA7 but don't fee .......

The GL 12AX7 is a very good tube....in the right circuit. Why Chinese? Only New Sensor knows and it may be a good choice in some equipment/circuits. I like Mullard 12AX7's too but they don't 'work' in .......

The problem with this type of question is the variables matter, some tubes are better in certain amplifiers than others. I've used the W.E. reissue 300b and it was clearly outperformed by the EML XLS, .......

Rectifiers did/do sound different in the SE amps I have and have had. Expensive does not mean the best sound. You may have hit the bulls eye with the tube you ordered. Let us know what you think after .......

Mike, they are quite good and I will try the Chinese GL 12AX7 too. I feel they should still be purchased from a dealer that tests and matches. I don't mind paying more for that service. I have a nice .......

I have used both in the past. The RP's are nice but what you have may already be *the best* in your system. So the short answer is try the RP's and let your ears decide. .......

The 12AX7 is the preamp tube and it will make a difference. Give the power tubes 100 hours and then tube roll to your ears content. What does your system consist of? Speakers etc. .......

NS, IMHO, did a great job with this tube. Excellent detail, tone, smooth mids, tight bass and the highs are not rolled off. If you like Tungsram 12AX7's you will like these. ;-) FYI, I am using these .......

I don't care for Teflon caps at all in my system and you don't like PIO. Caps are system and circuit dependent and there is no *best* just what works best for you. ;-) .......

I bought an assembled TRK3488 on Agon and it is a very nice amp. It came with Kiwame resistors and I changed the caps to suit my taste. I prefer 6550/KT88's in it but I have not tried any EL 34's othe .......

Tubemonger has photos of fakes in his tube library. IMHO, there are very few NOS/NIB Mullard Teles Bugle Boys Amperex 7316's etc. left. You really need to know your tubes or buy from a trusted seller. .......
