I get that there may be noise and jitter. Galvanic isolation isn't hard. I remain unconvinced that a decent implementation of any of the common interfaces has enough jitter to make a difference. YMMV. .......

Specs (and sound) of the iPod touch are positively high end with good ear canal phones, but storage is a bit small. But you don't need big storage capacity for lossless files, you just need to refresh .......

Not necessarily. My MacBook pro has an optical output. I don't use it often, though, as I have a digital transport that takes USB and converts it to optical, coax or AES/EBU. I send optical to the DAC .......

What you're describing sounds like classic expectation bias. The same phenomenon can cause you to "hear" what you've been told you will hear, especially when it is something as vague as a bigger sound .......

USB or HDMI, depending on your media preferences. Panasonic already has a top-of-the-line plasma (the Z-1) with wireless HDMI. Personally, I'll stick with optical for audio when I can, as I trust my D .......

Absolutely. Just because something you thought you heard doesn't hold up to blind listening tests doesn't mean you are self-deluded. Comb filtering in a room can account for subtle differences heard j .......

Computer audio makes it easy, at least for things you can switch between quickly. Get yourself an AB/X testing program. Run a few trials. Can you ID A and B consistently? No? Send the new cable or com .......

Just between you and me, I think "completely jitter free" is a bit hyperbolic. :) With jitter below audible levels is, in my view, quite achievable, often achieved. I think jitter is highly overrated. .......

Not to mention AAC files are superior to MP3s. And didn't iTunes recently upgrade to 256kbps? A 256kbps AAC file is as good as a 320 MP3. Few will ever hear the difference between that and lossless. P .......

I agree that this is a Mac weakness. I think the difficulty of replacing the battery (or even taking it to the Apple store) is a decent trade-off for the battery life and size/weight, but a run-out fu .......
