Consider a zero position as well. You need that to get the best out of cartridges like the AT 150MLX or Clearaudios, basically anything that lists 100 as the desired capacitance. I got the total down .......

Once you get that pad for compliance you might want a fiberglass bolt. I also made a plywood replacement for the top plate that the bolt goes through. I got a big improvement in bass after doing that. .......

No,just the entire spindle assembly is smaller and the bearing surface has less friction on the Kenwood/Jelco. I don't remember the source but try this test to compare lateral resistance on tone arms. .......

I can tell you that it takes less force to move the arm horizontally on my Kenwood 770D than on a Rega RB-300 and the Rega has about 40% less mass. The Kenwood which has an arm made by Jelco ::: TOPIC .......

That is set at 100 ohms. The available MC settings are 50/100/250/1000 ohm. I've also tried the MM input with 100 ohm resistors in parallel. The 103R does very well in some areas, others not so good. .......

What about the lift effect? Some DDs are known to take weight off the bearing due to magnetic repulsion. With no motor running that effect is nullified. I looked at the bearing on the bigger Kenwood D .......

Philips 212 came with a plastic box that matched the cartridge mounting slide. The arm had no VTA adjustment so you shim the cart and position it with the stylus tip in the notch on the box. ::: TOPIC .......

Norm, I don't think that the Shure can sound as good as the AT 150 MLX. The AT is more dynamic, the Shure is more like an Ortofon OM 30/40 and higher compliance than the AT as well. I've been running .......

My experience is that sound starts to change at about 150pf total. I tried it at 160pf and it got a little hard and not as rich. Mine runs in the 110 range. Definitely one of the best values out there .......

My original thought was to upgrade the P3. A lot of what needed to be done was in he area of speed control. Upgrade subplatter, motor, PSU and you should get to the kind of stabiliity that comes baked .......

I rewired my RB300 with Cardas shielded and I have to dress it carefully to avoid induced noise so I would say no to unshielded. I stripped the shielding from the part that is inside the column/arm. : .......

You can get rid of the spring vibrations without removing it by insertng pieces of easily removeable felt at several places. After that you can tap the arm and the stethescope does not pick up any rin .......

Here is a link for the old backpack system from Cambridge SoundWorks when Dr. K was in charge. You could probably put 4 six volt AGM batteries in there and still be under 30 pounds. .......

I like it on my P3. I tried several other inexpensive mats that changed things but I couldn't say the sound was overall better than the felt mat. The Herbie's made the bass more articulate. ::: TOPIC: .......

I made mine with thicker aluminum top and bottom. The stack goes this way, top plate, 7 ply plyood, foam, 5 ply plywood, bottom plate. Bottom plate was drilled to accept arrow points. I don't know if .......

Mine blew the fuse when I added added a cable for a speaker level connection to a sub. The HCA can't cope with that reliably. Replace the bolt and top plate of the toroid with non/metal or at least no .......

The first listen of my 150 MLX had me thinking "sounds a lot like a V15". After 30-40 hours it was better than a V15. AT recommends up to 150pf total and I think that is high.I set mine to 160 and it .......
