I like to open er up sometimes - that's why I had Cornwalls and Cornscalas - I like a BIG sound, with good sound staging and imaging (it doesn't have to be pin point) I like to look a little up at my .......

You're welcome to come by and take a listen if you want. They might be just a lateral move though - I got a nice pair of Cornscallas too with a 300B amp - but they would defiantly screw up your decor .......

They would be good for home theater - especially with the built in subwoofers. I had them for around 6 months, but eventually sold them. Even driven with tubes I felt that when driven to "reasonably" .......

Ran the amp from the NAD M51 direct (It can be used as a preamp) this a very nice DAC I may add..(Moved from a PS audio digi link 3). First off this amp has BALLS!!! It handled the 15" woofers in the .......

It tested well on the test bench at Stereophile - and it is Michael Fremmer's tube reference. I like it a lot and it drove a pair of Maggie 3.6's to realistic levels in my room for some time - the amp .......

Just curious, why was the Cornwall designed with risers in mind? If it was to lift the tweeter to a more typical ear height, then why not design the speaker so it was a little taller by making the cab .......

I like Magnepans - except for the fact that they don't do the mid-bass punch too well.... I have had 3 pairs so far....but they "always" draw attention to themselves visually... I like low lying floor .......

Those smaller drivers rob the efficiency of the speakers sometimes.. I love imaging and sound staging - but miss the dynamics/effortlessness a larger driver speaker usually produces .......

I used to own the P10's, and have a room roughly the same size as yours. (basement) I thought that the immage was larger than most other speakers i have owned, and that image height was around 2 feet .......

Turning the volume up to 3 o'clock could very well go beyond the 50 watt limit, it depends on a lot of other factors as well (like the ohms of the speakers). A lot of times certain amps/receivers make .......

The Sophia's are a big jump in dynamics and soundstaging. I also felt that the Sophia's were more forgiving and musical.... Some may cringe at me for saying that, but that is what i thought in my room .......

I marked where they should go on the bases and then used 3/4' wood screws and then used epoxy glue to secure. The drains actually sit inside the 3" PVC pipes so you dont see them, it just looks as .......

I will not have to refoam anything as the tweeter (and woofer) are fine except that the foam used around the tweeter for diffraction fell apart. It disintegrated and since the tweeter is tacky itself .......

Anybody have any experience with these speakers? I found them in a garage sale. They have oval speakers maybe 12" x 7", with a centrally mounted tweeter They look like they are from the 60's Will clea .......

For the last 3 years i have had the tweeters on the outside on my 3.6's. (I did try on the inside but basically the speakers were in the same location they were when outside) and I did not like it as .......

You can pick them up used. The bass can be optimized by room placement... Not sure how much power you have but 100 watts should do... I’m sure others here will agree on this. Mike .......

The MG 3.6 are a better speaker, and i prefer them to my MG1.6's. But the 3.6'are more finicky to set up, show more worts and other stuff that are on poorly made recordings, the MG1.6's were more plug .......

I would have thought that the NHT would have had better dynamics. 3 way compared to two. The NHT had very good measurements to boot... I guess the NOLA must be a pretty good speaker... .......

I used to have Vandersteen 2ce sig, and the RM200 was plenty for them. I now have the RM200 running Magnepan 3.6, (which is more power hungry) and it still has enough power. A great sounding amp. Mike .......

I found a Hitachi HT-6 turntable at a local garage sale very clean (been lucky lately, found Dual 505-2 2 weeks ago). This is direct drive model with quartz tracking, its got a Audio Technica ATN12XE .......

Hooked up the Dual after cleaning it up, and it sounds better than my vintage Linn. (76-78?) Any way what is different between the two is the Linn sounds closed in, the immage is well between the spea .......

The VR4jr's are a new speaker line...why would someone buy new a couple of months ago then sell unless they were not satisfied? You see a lot of Totems but not the same model over and over. I just hap .......

Every time i log onto Audiogon there are at least several Von Schweikert VR-4JR Speakers on sale. I have noticed this for at least several months. I am not trolling either, i have heard them several t .......

I am looking to get a used ss amp going for around a $1000, i cant spend that much at this time. (any sugestions?). What do you mean by running my amp on one side? i have a tube Music Reference RM200 .......

I used to own the Vandersteen 2ce sig's, I liked them but found that in my room they didnt immage that well for me, and i found that they were too veiled in comparrison to other speakers. I've heard t .......

I have listened to them on several occasions, and i must say that of all box speakers (i now own maggies) they would be the one i would purchase! I loved the sound of the FS888 wery dydnamic and holog .......

I posted this at the speaker asylum also, i thought i might get feed back here also. A freind of mine just purchsed a pair of powered monitors from KRK called V8's ($1000 pair) and he was blown away w .......

A freind of mine just purchsed a pair of powered monitors from KRK called V8's ($1000 pair) and he was blown away with them. This guy owns many speakers and said they almost sound as good as his B&W 8 .......

I have both 1.6's and just purchased 3.6's, and the Music Reference RM200 is 100 watts at 4 ohms and it works really well. I have a 14' x 25' finished basement, and im doing pretty well with it, its l .......

I agree, they had great sound comming from those speakers, really dynamic, i too thouhgt they were the more expensive 788 at first. .......

Speakers myself, I thought they sounded thin and not that coherent. Not enough bass, did not have that full soundstage that i am used to with maggies. I did not like the sound of Klauss's speakers at .......

So if i were to use a coaxial driver for home use with a compresion driver the best way to equalize the discrepancy would be to use a variable attinuator? Can you use a capasitor or is that too simple .......
