For me and my tastes, they did not work. I had Compact 7-es3s driven by LFD NCSE mkII. Great for jazz. The combo had ZERO balls for rock. I have a small room, too. I now have a Belles Aria integrated .......

It was actually much more absurd in NYC. the guy walked me into a room where the amp was $25k, speakers were $40k, DAC was $10k with some server thing I have never seen and I'm sure the cables were $1 .......

I have owned Merlin VSM-SEs and VSM-MMs. They are VERY different speakers (compared to Harbeths), assuming you are referring to VSMs and not TSMs. Merlin VSMs are, w/o a doubt, some of the best speake .......

I had Ref 3a de Capos for 3 years. I currently have Harbeth C-7s in same room (where 3as were.) Harbeths are more musical IMO. They just sound "right". Ref 3as always lacked that certain something. :: .......

Thanks, DKL. I think the 3 may be a nice step up from the internal DAC in the Oppo. The ONLY thing that is really pulling towards the Wadia 121 is that the form factor and remote would match the Wadia .......

I understand and respect mark-ups, import duties and distribution costs. BUT, in the UK, new Compact 7s are ~2150 pounds and new Monitor 30.1s are ~2,400 pounds. That's a delta of 250 pounds or ~$400 .......

I researched this and actually built a spread sheet. Two months ago, Planet of Sound in Canada had 30.1s at ~$4,200 CDN. I just looked and they are now $4,999 CDN. They are still $1,000 less than pric .......

The 150a Ref is DC coupled and can dump into your speakers. It happened to me and it fried one of my Merlin woofers. The NEW 350a Ref is AC COUPLED so it will NOT do this. .......

I used a Puccini SE with Proac Tablette 50 Sigs. Monitors don't get much smaller than these. Perfect for a bedroom rig. My Proacs are in my office being driven by a Linn Classik. The AA Primo combo is .......

I used single wires and merlin's jumpers for three reasons: 1. I only had to put one RC network per speaker on 2. the cardas jumper uses the same "wire" as the speakers thus integrating better......so .......
